With a population of 29,374 inhabitants, the parish of Saint Vanne en Verdunois brings together the city of Verdun and the many surrounding municipalities including Vacherauville.
 

  When the new parishes were created, it came under the patronage of one of the first bishops of Verdun (+ 525) whose name also recalls the famous Benedictine abbey, of which only the tower remains in the middle of the current citadel of Verdun. .
 

The parish of Saint Vanne en Verdunois thus houses 28 bell towers.
Dominating the city for over a millennium is the Notre-Dame Cathedral.
Verdun is indeed an episcopal city. Father Bishop Monsignor Jean-Paul Gushing  There is his residence and you can find there all the services of the bishopric and the diocese (secretary of the Father-Bishop, administrative services, diocesan house).
